Are you stuck in neutral?

July 13 -  Are you stuck in neutral?  Do any of the following questions resonate with you or sound like someone you know? Are you or others accepting the status quo? Are you no longer willing to take risks? Have you been highly successful and are continuing to ride your own success wave, not concerned that it could change? Do you have a tendency to allow things to happen, and just go with the flow? Do you avoid any conflict, challenge, or issues that arise because you just don’t want to deal with the negativity or effort involved?

Whether it’s riding the success train for as long as you can, a fear of taking risks due to a feeling of contentment, or an acceptance of what is “just the way it is,” all of these are keeping you right where you are right now with no effort to move forward. In a world that is constantly evolving, so must you to know your full potential.

Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to the possibility that you are in a neutral state of inaction. In what areas are you or others accepting status quo? Write these down. Were you once a risk taker, and now you are not? Note why you think this is the case. Are you enjoying the success you are currently experiencing, and feel you have arrived and there is no need to be as focused on your next big deal? What could that next big deal be if you did? If you are currently in a state of allowing things to happen as they may, why do you feel this must be the case? Do you feel you have no choice or it’s out of your control? If you are avoiding conflict or challenges, is it for the right reasons? Could they be a source of growth or enlightenment? Consider the possibility that you are becoming complacent in a way that is not serving your future self. Then take action to move forward through re-engaging your curiosity, self-confidence, and motivation to always be learning and growing.
