July 15 – Could simplification be your answer? Are you feeling that things have gotten much more complicated, complex or challenging than you thought they would be? Do you feel like you are spinning your wheels in order to make progress on a particular initiative? Are you overthinking possibilities and options when the solution may be simpler than you think?
When we are impacted by a more complicated or complex situation, or experiencing greater challenges than anticipated, we can easily get overwhelmed by all that seems to be swirling around us. Taking a step back to look at the situation in simpler terms may help you better determine your next steps so that progress can begin again. Simplicity creates clarity. Clarity inspires action.
Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to a different perspective. What unique talents and skills do you bring to the situation that need to be better leveraged or focused? What aspects of the situation are prohibiting you from being able to do your best work? How can you make a particular portion of the effort easier or less complicated? How can you divide up the responsibilities to get more accomplished in a systemized or piece-by-piece manner so you can see progress happening again? The idea of dividing and conquering can be just as much about how you tackle a situation as it is in having several people helping. When you divide and conquer in how you plan and execute, as well as with whom you execute it, you will be amazed at how far you can go.
