July 01 – Is your independence sabotaging your progress? Do you feel that you must do it all yourself? Do you like being in control of everything that impacts or affects you? Do you not want to have to rely on anyone or anything to get where you ultimately want to go?
Many high achievers wear independence as a badge of honor. Yet the very strength that got you where you currently are often becomes the ceiling that keeps you from going farther. Independence is empowering until it becomes an excuse to carry burdens you were never meant to carry alone. Many people believe freedom means needing no one. But true freedom often comes from trusting others, building systems, delegating, accepting support and allowing people to contribute.
Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to how your independence is limiting you. Has your independence become isolation? Has "I've got this" become "I won't let anyone help"? Is your desire for control actually limiting your capacity? What opportunities have you missed because you refused to ask? Are you protecting your independence—or protecting your pride? What if accepting help isn't weakness but wisdom? Who is waiting for the opportunity to contribute to your journey? Is your declaration of independence driven from fear or purpose? Are you afraid of being disappointed? Are you afraid of being vulnerable? Do you fear others won’t meet your standards? Do you have a fear of losing significance? Do you have a fear of letting go? In business especially, freedom comes from creating something that doesn't depend exclusively on you. Freedom isn't measured by how little you need others. It's measured by how much more becomes possible because you're willing to journey with others. A united effort takes you so much further than a solo one. Be open. Be willing. Be empowered. Be invincible.
