June 10 – Are you trying to fit in? Are you seeing what everyone else is doing and believing that you need to do the same? In your business, do you look at what competitors are doing and are copying them thinking that will make your business stronger or better? Is your need to fit in and feel like you belong overriding what actually makes you stand out and unique?
A feeling of belonging is a natural human trait, yet can be riddled with guilt, pressure, and judgment when it causes you to lose yourself in the process. You don’t need to fit in to belong. You belong where you don’t need to fit in.
Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to how you may be focusing too much on fitting in to belong. Are you taking actions not in alignment with your core values? Are you trying to replicate what someone else is doing in hopes for similar success? Are you focused on being everywhere competitors are versus where they are not? Are you settling for status quo because others believe your goals or aspirations are too bodacious? If you answered yes to any of these questions, take some time to reflect. Define how trying to fit in may be limiting you. Define where you feel like you belong even though you don’t have to fit in. The freedom that comes from being and doing from your own authenticity is not only powerful, but empowering. Fitting into your own way of being with joy, contentment and satisfaction brings a confidence that allows you to belong wherever you are without hesitation.
