Operating in overdrive?

May 20 – Operating in overdrive? Are Operating in overdrive? Do you always need an adrenaline rush to feel like things are happening and progressing? Are you in a state of hyper-vigilance to realize a goal or key objective? Are your goals lofty and your expectations high? Are you carrying responsibility others never see, and this adds pressure to perform? Are you making decisions on the fly, without fully embracing the outcomes?

Overdrive can be exhilarating when focused on transformation, resilience, mission, momentum and breaking through. It can also be debilitating when it is more focused on survival, ego, control, reacting, constantly fixing and lack of clarity having everyone bouncing in a multitude of directions.  When being in overdrive becomes a permanent way of being, exhaustion replaces transformation, and disengagement undermines engagement.

Take an MM&I Moment  to awaken to how being in overdrive is serving you and not serving you. Is being in overdrive an addiction or a mandate?  Is your need to stay in overdrive based on a need for control or results? Is being in overdrive passionately driven or feel more like an expectation? Are your goals clear and your actions even clearer or are you doing a multitude of actions to see what actually sticks?  Healthy overdrive is fueled by purpose, clarity, focus, strategy, and intentional intensity. Unhealthy overdrive is forced through panic, reactivity, chronic urgency, and what feels like a frenzy of activity with no place to land.  Overdrive is meant to be a gear, not a permanent way of being. Take time to shift gears long enough to know the difference.
