February 18 – Are you in your own way? Are things not progressing as you would like them to be moving? Are you frustrated by a lack of activity or initiative? Are you juggling a multitude of responsibilities to the point of exhaustion? Are you intending to take action on some things, but can never quite get to them?
As hard as it may be to admit, taking an honest look at how you could be a deterrent in moving things forward may open your eyes and your mind to alternatives. How is a fear of losing control impacting your actions? How is a fear of letting go of tasks others could potentially do? How could having too many irons in the fire be an issue? How could taking on too much be the culprit? Your choices are clearer when your priorities are clear.
Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to how you could get out of your own way. If things are not progressing as you would like, where are you contributing to a delay or inaction? Are there decisions to be made or clearer direction to be given? If activity has slowed, what initiative could be taken to ramp up activity and by whom? What responsibilities are you currently juggling that you don’t need to be doing? What are things you intend to take action on that could now be higher on your priority list by not doing these other activities? Instead of being a bottleneck, create funnels of opportunity. Instead of being the go-to for everything, be a resource for critical things.
