Are you giving yourself a break?

December 24 – Are you giving yourself a break? Are you never good enough for yourself? Do you find yourself focusing more on what you are not getting done versus what you have gotten done? Do you compare yourself to others, only seeing where you are falling short instead of where you are uniquely you? Do you feel a need to constantly be productive as a measure of your own self-worth?

Our greatest catalyst for accomplishment lies within our own self-image and confidence in what we are trying to achieve. When you focus more on what isn't versus what is, you are telling yourself you are not worthy of what you desire. When you are always on the go, you are not taking the time to savor moments of accomplishment and the small successes along the way. Pause. Catch your breath. Give yourself a hug, high five, and a little love. You deserve it.

Take an MM&I Moment  to awaken to how you can be kinder to yourself. Realign or shift your thinking to the here and now in a more positive and productive way.  What have you completed or moved forward recently despite all that has been thrown at you? What are your unique contributions to personal or professional initiatives that are a source of pride or passion for you? List reasons why you deserve to achieve your goals and to realize great satisfaction from your efforts. Now let’s shift to your constant need to stay busy. When can you set aside your checklist and just be in the moment, truly taking a break to recharge and reconnect with simple pleasures? Taking a break is not slacking, it is actually what is needed to invigorate and reconnect with what feeds your soul. When you feel worthy of a break, you’re also are saying you are worthy of so much more.
