Suffering from founder's burnout?

September 17 – Suffering from founder's burnout? Are you feeling exhausted all the time and drained even before your workday begins? Do you feel that every decision weighs heavy on you and you cannot seem to get any type of break? Do you feel the weight of the responsibility in running and owning a business? Have you lost some of your passion and go get ‘em?

When you feel drained and like you’ve fallen out of love with your business, it’s time to take a step back and fully embrace why. How has the business changed that is not as you had originally envisioned? How has being the one in charge of everything caused added pressure and frustration? When was the last time you actually took a break, a real break from the business?

Take an MM&I Moment  to awaken to what is the key source of angst causing your current mindset. Is it that you haven’t taken time off since you don’t know when? Have demands in your personal life left you no space for peace and it all seems to be crashing from all sides? Have a myriad of unexpected challenges and overwhelming things to deal with seemed to have all hit at once? Are you tired of feeling like everything is up to you and you wish you had more support and options to consider? If you haven’t taken time off, then this needs to be a priority, even if it is just a four-day weekend to ease into being away. If you must, close the business for those four days and truly take a break. Or allow your team to pick up the slack while you are away and disconnect completely.  If demands from your personal life have taken their toll, share with family and friends to see how they can be of greater support. Share how you need to disconnect from everything to replenish your spirit and your mindset. If a plethora of challenges have hit you all at once, remind yourself that all of it is temporary and it will get better and more manageable. Also be open to who you could potentially bring in to help you manage the load or provide unique or expert perspective. If you feel like everything is up to you, take a moment to take inventory in all you have on your plate. What is necessary? What isn’t necessary? What could be handed off and you are just maintaining too much control and could delegate more? Having more support and options begins with sharing with others that you need more support and options. Once you open your mind and your heart to the possibilities, you also open your spirit to believe and engage again. Instead of burning the candle at both ends, reignite your burning desires.
