August 13 – Is worry winning? Has worry consumed your mindset as of late? Are you having doubts about the future? Are recent shifts in the economic or competitive climate making you less optimistic? Have a plethora of challenges caused you to feel less hopeful and more anxious? Are too many things that are out of your control causing worry to be ever present? Do you feel you have lost control of aspects that you once had control?
When you allow worry to win, you are in a survival and lack of mindset. Worrying about the future only sabotages your ability to take proactive action in the present. Worry is formed in your imagination stealing precious brainpower for seeing and seizing opportunities. Instead of seeing only the problems, remind yourself of how far you have come and what you have overcome.
Take an MM&I Moment to awaken to the underlying causes of the worry you are feeling. Has doom and gloom news contributed to your state of mind? If so, how? Is the negative news becoming your reality, or only manifested a fear it will become your reality? Have you felt aspects of your business slowing down to the point you are worrying about revenue, profits or cashflow? Are you starting to think you need to cut costs instead of ramping up efforts to gain more opportunities? Are you so focused on what is not within your control that you are forgetting all the things that are within your control? Replace worry with wonder and willpower. Amidst the most challenging of times, opportunities reveal themselves. Instead of thinking the worse, consider what could be some ideal scenarios that could occur for you. Think about where you are having doubts. Where could you gain more clarity that could diminish these doubts? Are you being given some precious time to focus on opportunities that got put on the back burner? What is still within your control to pursue or manage? How can you ramp up those efforts through sheer willpower and intentional actions? Who do you know and trust who may have some insight and perspective that could help you? Don’t allow worry to be a weapon of self-destruction within your own mind. Instead, embrace your ability to be tenacious, curious, and determined to overcome and prevail. Be open to seeing what others are not seeing and to think like no one else is thinking. Squelch the worry and bring your brilliance to the surface. One spark of brilliance can change everything.
