Are your goals compelling enough?

July 12 – Are your goals compelling enough? Wow! Can you believe we are in the second half of this year? How are you doing with your goals for this year? On track? Lagging behind? Everything else taking priority?  No longer inspired to achieve? If the goals you have are not inspiring you, then you really should be asking yourself if they truly are goals worth achieving.

If you do have a deep desire to achieve certain goals, then why aren’t they your priority? How could you be making them more of a priority?  While your desire is a starting point, action and effort are essential to transform desire into accomplishment.

Take an MM&I Moment to reawaken to how you are approaching reaching your goals. Revisit the goals you set at the beginning of this year or end of last year.  Now focus on the goals where you haven’t made any progress. First, are they still important goals to you? Eliminate any that no longer are a priority. Now look at the ones that are a priority.  Are you sharing them with others and have you thought enough about what it will take to achieve them? List the actions you can take today and this week to move these goals forward.

If the goals are truly compelling, effort should and can be made with no reason to wait. List everyone with whom you are going to be meeting over the next week. What can you share about one of your goals with each person you encounter? Make it a point to discuss this, as well as to ask each person what they are attempting to achieve. Who should you be meeting with who could provide insight, experience, or connections? Another way to make your goals a priority is to be reminded daily. Note your goals in a place where you can reference and see them on a daily basis. Take some time each week to note actions you will take for each priority goal.

Before you know it, what compels you to take action will propel you to achieve exactly what you hope to achieve. The best part of all, chances are you will achieve even more than you could have possibly imagined.
