Feeling unrecognized?

Dec 8 - Feeling unrecognized? Are you going above and beyond in your work and what you deliver only to feel as though no-one seems to be noticing? Are you feeling as though people are expecting more for less and it isn’t as gratifying to give when no-one seems to recognize the effort and attention being paid to doing an exceptional job? Never let others’ lack of recognition keep you from doing what you believe is the right way to be in how you approach doing things. Always focus on what it means to you and for others regardless of how others may or may not be responding at the time.

Keep in mind that in times of stress or challenge, it is easy for people to take for granted or not realize what is happening that is actually making things easier or more convenient because their focus is on what is not going smoothly or conveniently. Don’t take their lack of acknowledgement or appreciate personally. Simply realize that everyone is in a different place and space.

Take an MM&I Moment to awaken your own recognition mojo for how you have gone above and beyond and why you did it. Note why it was important to you and the way you do business, handle a project, or conduct your work. Aside from being acknowledged, what else did creating this added value mean to you and why you felt it was important to complete the project or conduct yourself in this manner?  If you can look at whatever you have done with pride for a job well done, then you can hold your head up high and take that same energy to the next project and the next project or task at hand. Striving for excellence isn’t about recognition. It is about making something even better than before.
