Are assumptions sabotaging you?

Are you making decisions based on what you believe is the case or you know is a fact? Have you reacted to a situation based on things you are imagining or what is clearly happening?  Does uncertainty cause you to suppose things in a way that is causing you to hesitate moving forward? Have negative experiences caused you to jump to conclusions that may actually be totally off base?

Your greatest source of confidence lies in being willing to explore what is versus what isn’t. When you open your mind, you open the floodgates to awareness. And with awareness comes the ability to choose wisely and confidently.

Take an MM&I Moment to awaken your thinking to any assumptions you have that may be hindering your success versus propelling it.  With any recent decisions, what did you assume while making that decision? What did you know with certainty?  What recent situations upset you causing a reaction in how you handled? What assumptions did you make in this instance that may have caused the situation to be worse than it really was? What experiences have you had that have caused you to believe a certain way about how you are going to approach things and people now? As you answer these questions, patiently explore the possibility that your assumptions may be sabotaging your progress versus empowering it. Then patiently embrace the unknown with curiosity, conviction and determination to know the truth.

Wide Awake Quote of the Week

“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won’t come in.” – Alan Alda
