Are you sabotaging your momentum?

June 22, 2015 - Are you sabotaging your momentum? Have you been going like gangbusters, and now are allowing yourself to be easily distracted by inconsequential things? Are you finding your mind and focus wandering, even though you have been realizing some progress? When things are going at a fast pace with results to show for it, it can sometimes fool you into believing that a little distraction is okay. The key is to understand why you are allowing the momentum to wane. Is the reason valid or avoidance? If it is potentially avoidance, it could be a sign that you are less confident about your next steps or the outcome and are subconsciously putting on the brakes without realizing it.

Take an MM&I Moment to assess what is really going on in your mindset that is causing you to lose focus.  List the progress you have made and what you are most proud of in the momentum that has been built as a result. Now list what you don't know or feel you need to know or do to keep the momentum flowing. If you are feeling a little burnt out, then acknowledge the need to recharge by scheduling some time to rejuvenate yourself. However, if you are feeling uncertainty, which is causing your mind to wander, then tackle that uncertainly head on through gaining more insight, knowledge or perspective. Either way, your momentum won't miss a beat and you will be gratified in seizing your moments with gusto and conviction.
