Are you avoiding the obvious?

May 4, 2015 - Are you avoiding the obvious? Is there an answer right in front of you that you are not seeing? Are you delaying an inevitable action that needs to be taken?  When we are caught up in life's drama or work's chaos, it can be easy to not see what needs to be done due to being distracted by the minutia or to subconsciously avoid taking action as a defense mechanism. One of the best things you can do for yourself when you are in the midst of what feels like immense pressure and confusion is to pause and take a step back to reflect and re-engage from a clearer perspective.

Take an MM&I Moment to shift your mindset from the stress you are under to a more reflective, introspective place. Ask yourself what could be right in front of you as a solution to your dilemma. Ask yourself what action you could take that would actually bring relief if you would just make the move to take it. Ask each of these questions to a trusted friend, colleague or advisor whose perspective you value. You may just find that what you need to do has been right there in front of you the whole time, and you just needed to pause long enough to see if for yourself.
