Is time getting away from you?

July 14, 2014 - Is time getting away from you? Do you wish there were more hours in each day so that you can accomplish all that you are trying to do? Do you feel as though you can never get it all done and more just keeps piling up upon you? Are you racing through each day while desiring time to slow down a bit so you can catch up with all your demands? When your day feels like an ever-flowing frenzy of to-do's and demands, it is not only exhausting, it is indicating that you are allowing that valuable asset of time to haunt you versus help you.

Take an MM&I Moment to step back and view your approach in how you use your time with some fresh perspective. Are you functioning in a reactive mode or proactive mode with respect to your tasks and activities throughout the day? Are you planning ahead or relying on what gets thrown your way in what you get done or do throughout your day?  Are you engaging others' time to assist you with less important, but essential work, or are you relying solely on yourself to get everything done? Instead of viewing your day as being filled with tasks that must be done within a certain period of time, identify your priorities and proactively plan your day to focus on what is essential for you to do, and what could just as easily be done by someone else. Take a moment to consider some of your activities and scrutinize whether they need to be done at all. You will find when you shift from measuring time to weighing priorities, you realize a greater satisfaction in what you get accomplished and less stress through letting go of what didn't really matter or require your attention after all.
