Is your work a labor of love?

Sept 2, 2013 -  Is your work a labor of love? As you celebrate this Labor Day, do you view the work that you do as a labor of love or a labor of necessity? Do you gain gratification and satisfaction from the work you do, or is it merely a means to an end such as a paycheck or a lifestyle? Do you feel passionate about the work that you do or do you feel passive, only doing what needs to be done to get by? If you answered the latter in any of these questions, it is time to take stock in your work and how you can make if more satisfying, gratifying and rewarding for you.

Take an MM&I Moment to list ways that your work could be more enjoyed and more satisfying. Identify what it is about your work that makes you feel passionate because of what you know you can do or the difference you can make. If you honestly feel that the work that you are currently doing is not what you truly want to be doing, list what it is that you truly want in your ideal working world. Then take a moment and list even the smallest thing you can do right now to bring some of what you want into what you are currently doing. You can choose to accept status quo and be miserable, or choose to embrace what will make you enjoy your work and be at your very best.
