Are you getting things done?

July 8, 2013 -  Are you getting things done? Are you getting things done or merely doing things? Do you feel a sense of accomplishment each day or a sense of wondering how you are ever going to get all that you need to do completed?  Do you feel like the more you do, the more things pile on you that need to be done?  It may be time to take a step back and assess what you are doing and why you are doing all that you are doing.  If you are busy, but not feeling productive or accomplished, then you may very well not be doing what you need to be doing or not leveraging potential support which could significantly help you move forward. Instead of feeling limited, you need to shift your thinking to feel more empowered.

Take an MM&I Moment and list all that you want to accomplish this week. Now take a look at your to-do list for today, tomorrow and the next day. What percentage of what you want to accomplish has action items at the top of your to-do list? What items on your to-do list absolutely must be done that are not on your "to accomplish" list? Don't feel you must do it all alone. Could these items be delegated to someone else? If certain things must be done by you, is there some small task that could be delegated from your "to accomplish" list that will keep it moving forward while you focus on these other essential items. Most important, take an honest look at your to-do list regarding any tasks that are really not essential or necessary. Making progress on what really matters to you will give you a daily sense of accomplishment. Progress is the precursor to accomplishment.
